The MOT is a legal requirement, and vehicles must pass the test to be deemed fit for road use.
The examination is carried out by authorised testing centres, and its primary aim is to enhance overall road safety by identifying and rectifying potential issues in a vehicle’s mechanical and safety features. The vehicle’s emissions are also tested for compliance with environmental standards.
If the vehicle successfully passes the examination, a certificate is issued, affirming its roadworthiness. In cases of failure, a list of identified issues is provided, necessitating repairs for a subsequent retest.
